Shared stewardship
Social Forestry
Strengthening governance, institutions, planning, and responsible forest management by social forestry groups.
Forest access backed by capacity
This program aims to ensure that forest management access is accompanied by the capacity to make decisions, implement work plans, maintain ecological functions, and generate responsible livelihood benefits.
Focus areas
- Stronger group governance and implementation of management and work plans.
- Participatory mapping, management zoning or block planning, and area monitoring.
- Stronger Social Forestry Business Groups and enterprises compatible with forest functions.
- Coordination with government, facilitators, and technical partners.
How we work and what we track
Support begins with the group’s management status, collective agreements, institutional needs, and the area’s biophysical conditions. Results tracked include progress against work plans, organisational and decision-making functions, mapped management areas or blocks, implementation of field activities, enterprise development, and monitoring completeness. Sensitive management documents and records remain access-controlled.
Examples from Yayasan Gambut
Support planned from October 2026 for Mandiri Sejahtera Community Forest and the Rimba Sejahtera Social Forestry Business Group in Dayun Village includes institutional strengthening, agroforestry planning, mapping of management blocks and planting areas, and activity monitoring.
